NOW OFFERING STUDY GROUP SESSIONS IN COLUMBUS, OHIO AND CLEVELAND, OHIO
THIS IS OUR 7TH YEAR OFFERING THE CMP PROGRAM AND WE
HAVE HELD A 90% PASSING RATE OVER THE PAST SEVEN YEARS!
The CMP study group will commence on August 5, 2008 and will run weekly for 13 weeks (excluding holidays) in both Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio and conclude with the CMP Boot camp two weeks prior to taking the CIC exam in Columbus, Ohio. The CMP certification is offered through the Convention Industry Council with test opportunities twice a year (January and August).
There is an option to web cast and conference into the study group from your computer while attending the Columbus, Ohio Study group session. If you are interested in this option, please check "web cast" below. There are a limited number of spaces available for this option. You will receive additional information on requirements and costs for web cast.
To prepare for the test, in addition to the weekly study group, we will be offering a full-day "Boot Camp" to be held two weeks prior to the CIC exam. You may choose to come only to the Boot Camp - although we strongly encourage attending the weekly study groups.
The books you will need to study are Convention Industry Council Manual, 8th Edition and The CIC International Version (obtain these books online at www.conventionindustry.org or www.mpiweb.org. You can choose to purchase the PMM book if you wish, but we do not include that in our study reference materials. If you have not ordered the Candidate Handbook (CMP Application), you will need to download this now to start working on your application.
The application deadline is August 20, 2008. The application is a lengthy process whereby you will accumulate points for your past experience, responsibilities in the industry and education. We will spend some time answering questions at the first meeting to assist study group members with the completion of the application.
You do not need to test on January 10, 2009 to join the study group. More than half of our study group members attend two study group sessions before testing! You will receive a notebook with the study syllabus, blueprint, practice tests, general information and space for materials from each session. We will be requesting a test location in Ohio and require a minimum of 20 individuals in order to make this happen. (Ohio has had a test site for the last seven years). Once your application is accepted, you will register for a test site. Although Ohio is not listed as a permanent test site, you may write it in.
Scholarships are available through various professional organizations such as MPI. MPI membership is not a requirement to join the study group.
